About

Klinefelter is inherited when the male offspring receives two X chromosomes instead of one.  It affects boys and males only.

Detection

Klinefelter's can be detected before birth by amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling (CVS).  A blood test called a karyotype can also test the chromosomal composition to see if the male has Klinefelter's.  Other hormone tests or semen analysis can be done also. 

Symptoms

-low testosterone levels

-sparse pubic, facial, and body hair

-underdeveloped muscles

-enlarged breasts

-taller than usual

-long, thin arms

-narrow shoulders

-wide hips

Treatment or Cure

Only known treatment at this time is testosterone dosages.
